mani lamp description

The Talus Mani Lamp rocks back and forth
silently and mysteriously
casting moving shadows on the wall.
This movie is in Flash and runs about 2 minutes. And yes, the lamp can be adjusted to move this slowly.
The clear glass wheel, containing two hollow spheres embedded in the rim, is balanced on a pivoting axle>

Each sphere is partly filled with liquid, as well as a thin black metal sheet> The spheres are connected by a hollow glass tube along the lower rim> Light from the halogen bulbs impinges on the black sheet on the lower sphere, heating the air> The warm air pushes liquid from the lower sphere to the upper, causing the seesaw to become unbalanced> The upper sphere rotates to the bottom, only to be illuminated by the other bulb> The cycle repeats.
